summer update

i am writing this as summer fades and i begin a new chapter in my life.

i completed my military service in july. i had a brief period where i did nothing but sleep and bedrot. i was frantically looking for a job as my savings were depleted. i was tempted to go back to playing guitar, talked with a few friends, and was recommended a beautiful stratocaster which i bought with my last bit of money. it’s a beautifully crafted guitar in vintage yellow, one of my favorite colors. so far i’ve been practicing almost every day and gotten back to the speed i used to have. man, i’d forgotten how much joy i get from just playing and figuring out songs by ear.

then i found a job at a private high school towards the last week of august. i was hesitant at first because i’d never worked with that age group, but nevertheless i got the job. while preparing for the role and getting the paperwork ready, i was invited to my friend’s summer house in marmaris where i had a great reset. 9 days of drinking, swimming, and enjoying the sun. it was the refresh i’d needed for a long time.

now it’s been a week since i started my new job. seminars and preparations so far, and next week i’ll be teaching my first 9th graders. i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t excited. we’ll see.
